Fruit picking jobs are a great way to earn money if you are traveling and looking for a short-term job.

Many fruit picking farms require that you can focus for long periods of time as you may spend several hours stood on a ladder picking from the one tree, this can be very monotonous and can test your patience. Normally the working day starts around 7am and you will be done somewhere around 5pm. On a daily basis you could earn somewhere in the region of $28-30 per bin depending on how fast you work. If you are a fast worker and can collect 4, 5 or even more bins then you will obviously be able to earn a decent amount of money, again this is all dependant on the type of fruit you are harvesting and the individual farm.
Generally there are no special qualifications or experience which is required to work as a fruit picker, you simply have to be hardworking and in quite good physical shape. In the summer months it can be especially challenging with the high temperatures that many countries experience, you will be glad of you mid day break! In addition to being in good physical condition you also need to think about the equipment you will use/need when picking. Farms will provide tools and other necessary picking equipment but you will be responsible for sun cream, sunglasses, a hat and other items such as these which are essential. One of the great things about working in agricultural areas and fruit picking jobs is that you will meet some fantastic people. normally most rural communities are laid back and the pace of life is slightly different than that of a major city.
