Each year ranches employ many seasonal staff and in some cases year round positions are available. There are all kinds of jobs available on ranches not just jobs related to horses and cattle. Ranches also need cooks, housekeepers, maintenance workers and childrens counselors. The pay will vary from one ranch to another but will usually include room and board. In addition to your regular ranch duties, staff are also expected to take part in evening activities for guests. These may be talent shows, hay rides and line dancing. Like most rural jobs the work is hard and the hours are long, but it is a great way to spend a season.
